A mixed media project for Leicestershire Partnership NHS Trust explaining the importance of staff networks
CLIENT
The Leicestershire Partnership NHS Trust provides a wide range of community health and inpatient services for both physical and mental health conditions for over 1 million people. Their 5,500 staff support people of all ages across Leicester, Leicestershire, and Rutland, from over 100 sites across the region.
BRIEF
The Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion team at Leicestershire Partnership NHS Trust asked us to create a video explaining the benefits of their Staff Networks to staff members within the Trust. They also requested interviews with staff members and British Sign Language throughout the video.
RESULTS
The animation showcases the different Staff Networks that exist within the Leicestershire Partnership NHS Trust, including the Black, Asian, and Minority Ethnic (BAME) Network, LGBTQ+ Network, and Disability Network, among others.
Through a combination of our animation and real-life interviews, our video illustrates how these networks provide a safe space for staff to connect, share experiences, and provide support. The video highlights the benefits of being part of a Staff Network, such as building relationships, raising awareness, and improving understanding of diversity and inclusion issues.
The video also emphasises the critical role that Staff Networks play in shaping NHS organisational policies, influencing decision-making, and advocating for positive change. It highlights the Trust's commitment to creating a culture of inclusion and diversity and encourages staff to join or create their own Staff Networks to be part of this important movement.
The finished video is great for promoting diversity, equality, and inclusion in the workplace. It offers an engaging and informative way to educate staff and raise awareness of the essential role that Staff Networks play in fostering a more inclusive culture at LP NHS Trust.

THE PROCESS
Working closely with the client we created the style frame after receiving their script. They wanted an inclusive and diverse cast of characters to represent the various Staff Networks. We also created various logos to represent each Staff Network. As this was a mixed media production, we commissioned Image Nova, a Leicester video production company to film the interviews with the NHS staff. We also sourced a BSL company to provide the interpreter and presenter. We found several local voice actors for the client to choose from before they decided on BBC Radio Leicester’s Shruti Chauhan. All assets were designed in Illustrator and rigged in After Effects, using Joysticks n Sliders, Rubberhose, and the plugin, Limber.
