ANIMATED EXPLAINER FOR TEENS ABOUT THE MENOPAUSE
CLIENT
AMAZE are a US sex education website taking the awkward out of growing up. They provide fun, animated videos empowering healthy relationships worldwide, with all the answers teens want to know about their bodies and growing up.
BRIEF
AMAZE approached us to produce a fun age-appropriate video all about the menopause. The video needed to explain that the menopause is a normal and natural experience that signals the point in life when women and people who menstruate (or a person with a uterus) can no longer become pregnant and permanently stop their monthly menstrual cycle.
RESULTS
We commissioned American writer Sam Bissonette to write the script. Amaze wanted another episode with our animated character Sam and we introduced her energetic Auntie Jo. Whilst on a video call Auntie Jo explains to Sam all about the menopause in an entertaining and informative way.
This project allowed us to contribute to an important dialogue around this period in a woman’s life. We needed to ensure that the animation would be both informative and empathetic, yet funny and appealing - bridging the generation gap and helping teenagers better understand this often misunderstood phase of a woman’s life. Creating a resource that can empower young individuals with knowledge and empathy towards the menopausal experience has been very rewarding for us.
The video is already getting great reviews on AMAZE’s YouTube channel and is raising awareness about the menopause for teens around the world!
