5 FUN PRIMARY SCHOOL SONGS on a variety of topics including friendship, tidying up the classroom and recycling.
CLIENT
BBC Teach is home to all of the BBC’s teaching resources. It consists of thousands of free curriculum-mapped videos, arranged by age-group and subject.
BRIEF
BBC Teach commissioned us to create five animations for their KS1 & KS2 Primary School Songs page. The audio-only version of the songs had already proved popular on the School Radio site and BBC Teach asked us to create some engaging animation to bring the songs alive on their website and YouTube channel.
RESULTS
The end result was 5 bright and colourful animated Primary resources that teachers can happily use for their Key Stage 1 pupils. Each animated song is paced with the subtitles so singing along is easy and enjoyable.
THE PROCESS
Initially, we proposed a collection of cute animal characters to star in the animations, but after some deliberation it was decided that school age children might prefer to see a more ‘realistic’ representation of themselves on screen (including primary style school uniforms). We designed a diverse group of school children that would resonate with the Key Stage 1 audience and put them in a colourful primary school setting.
All assets were designed in Illustrator and rigged and animated in After Effects. As usual, we used the full arsenal of AE Plugins - Joysticks n Sliders, DUIK and Rubberhose - to create the most dynamic and flexible character rigs possible, including a controller which allowed us to seamlessly switch between casual clothes and school uniform (if only it was that easy to get the kids ready for school in real life!)
